Hope and Homes for Children Rwanda has supported the transformation of 16 institutions and orphanages, including 2 centers for children with disabilities. In total, 1,352 children, including 126 with disabilities, have been reintegrated into families or placed into other alternative family-based care.
Over the past 10 years, Hope and Homes for Children programs have positively impacted approximately 170,000 children, including around 5,000 children with disabilities across the country.
Hope and Homes for Children Rwanda has been at the forefront of planning and implementing child care reform, and supported in equipping a strong social work force through curriculum development, training, and supervision of 68 government staff (social workers and Psychologists).
Hope and Homes for Children provides support to 250 teenage mothers in Kicukiro District, supporting them in overcoming numerous and complex life challenges resulting from their early pregnancies.
Hope and Homes for Children Rwanda has supported the establishment of 10 community hubs. All these community hubs offer early childhood development (ECD) services, and two of them have been specifically designed to support and improve the well-being of children with disabilities
Hope and Homes for Children Rwanda has assisted in establishing and operationalizing 30 Community Development Networks across all 30 districts in Rwanda, including 96 sectors with a high proportion of families in crisis or with orphanages.
More than 10,000 individuals were trained in child care reform within and outside Rwanda, these last ten years.
